PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR PROMOTES COOPERATION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF RABAT

27 January 2022 – As part of the Embassy’s thrust to improve bilateral relations between the Philippines and Morocco, PH Ambassador to Morocco Leslie J. Baja visited the Université Internationale de Rabat (UIR). He was received by UIR President Mr. Noureddine Mouaddib, Vice President of Research and International Affairs Mr. Abdelaziz Benjouad, and Chief of Staff and Advisor to the UIR President Mr. Abdelhafid Debbarh.
During the meeting, Ambassador Baja and UIR representatives discussed the possibility of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of education by establishing linkage between PH and Moroccan universities. The Ambassador conveyed PH’s interest to promote interfaith and inter-cultural dialogue between Filipino and Moroccan students, and to organize activities that will increase the educational community’s familiarity with the Philippines and ASEAN, as well deepen their understanding and appreciation of the Philippines as a potential partner of Morocco in Southeast Asia.
UIR representatives welcomed the idea of establishing partnership with Philippine universities primarily through student exchange programs, as well as seminars and workshops that may be arranged as part of the annual General Conference of the university’s Political Science Department. END
