Ambassador Baja expressed his appreciation to the Filipinos for taking time away from their busy schedule to attend the meeting and to welcome the Embassy delegation to Conakry. During the meeting, the Filipino community was briefed about the services offered by the Embassy including the numbers they may call should they need assistance in consular and labor-related issues, and other emergency situations. The Ambassador also informed them of the latest entry protocols for Filipinos who are planning to go home to the Philippines. He also encouraged those who are registered voters to cast their votes in the coming national elections. Finally, Ambassador Baja reassured the Filipinos of the Embassy’s support and assistance to ensure that they will continue to enjoy favorable working and living conditions in Guinea.
Majority of the Filipinos in Conakry work in restaurants, spas, and salons, while those outside the capital work in construction and gold, bauxite, and iron ore mining companies. There are also a few second-generation Filipinos who were born and raised in Guinea. END
