SECRETARY TEODORO L. LOCSIN, JR. HOLDS BILATERAL TALKS WITH
MOROCCAN FOREIGN MINISTER NASSER BOURITA AND
HEAD OF GOVERNMENT AZIZ AKHANNOUCH

Rabat, 21 March 2022 - Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. undertook an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco last week upon the invitation of Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

During the official visit, Secretary Locsin held bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister Bourita on 17 March 2022 where they reaffirmed interest to enhance opportunities for cooperation between the Philippines and Morocco. The bilateral meeting was followed by the 2nd Philippines-Morocco Political Consultations which served as an opportunity to have an exchange of views on issues that are of common interest to the Philippines and Morocco sides.

Secretary Locsin also had a fruitful meeting with Moroccan Head of Government Mr. Aziz Akhannouch where they expressed the common will to promote bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and Morocco and to take advantage of opportunities for people-to-people exchanges.

The high-level meetings confirm that Philippines-Morocco bilateral relations is gaining momentum as the two countries move toward 50 years of diplomatic ties in 2025.

Joining Secretary Locsin in the meetings are Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, Ambassador Leslie J. Baja, Assistant Secretary for Middle East and African Affairs Alfonso A. Ver, and Director for Africa Division Jennifer D. Dingal. END
