SECRETARY TEODORO L. LOCSIN, JR. LED THE INAUGURATION OF THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN RABAT

Rabat, 21 March 2022 – The chancery of the Philippine Embassy in Rabat was inaugurated by Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and Ambassador Fouad Yazough, Director General for Bilateral Relations of the Ministry Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad (MFA) in a ceremony attended by diplomats from ASEAN and African Embassies in Rabat, representatives from the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Casablanca, officials from the Moroccan MFA, and members of the Filipino community.
In his remarks, Secretary Locsin underscored that the re-opening of the Philippine Embassy in Rabat after being closed for nearly thirty years comes at an opportune moment where the Philippines and Morocco can explore opportunities for growth in all aspects of relations as the two countries move toward 50 years of diplomatic ties in 2025.
Secretary Locsin also had the opportunity to meet and to have a candid conversation with the members of the Filipino community in Morocco where he reiterated the Philippine government’s commitment to safeguard their rights and promote their interests and welfare in Morocco.

The Philippine Embassy is in Souissi, Rabat where the majority of diplomatic missions are located. A landing team arrived in Rabat on 27 December 2019 and the full staff complement of the Embassy was completed in September 2021. END
