ASEAN COMMITTEE IN RABAT EXPLORES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CONFEDERATION GENERALE DES ENTREPRISES DU MAROC

ASEAN Committee in Rabat with representatives from the Confederation Generale des Entreprises du Maroc

31 May 2022 – As part of its initiative to increase the awareness of ASEAN in Morocco, the ASEAN Committee in Rabat (ACR) visited the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM). The group was received by CGEM President Mr. Chakib Alj and CGEM Chief Executive Officer Samia Terhzaz.

During the visit, ACR delivered presentations on ASEAN, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as well as the status of their bilateral relations with Morocco, including trade figures, opportunities for doing business, and potential areas of cooperation.

CGEM President Chakib Alj noted the potential for more extensive partnership between Morocco and ASEAN and proposed the creation of an ASEAN-CGEM business council that can identify business ventures in textile, automotive, and tourism industries. He also invited ACR to organize an ASEAN trade show in Morocco to introduce the region’s products and services and spur the interest of local consumers.

CGEM, is the official representative of 90,000 direct and affiliated members from the private sector and promotes their interests at regional, national and international levels and works for a business climate that is favorable to entrepreneurship. END
