Philippine Ambassador to Morocco calls for greater cooperation in culture with Morocco

14 September 2022 - Philippine Ambassador to Morocco Leslie J. Baja met with Morocco's Minister of Youth Culture and Communications, Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid on 14 September 2022.

During the meeting, Ambassador Baja informed the Minister of the recent reopening of the Philippine Embassy in Rabat and conveyed the Philippines' interest in expanding cultural cooperation between the Philippines and Morocco, especially in light of the upcoming milestone of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Morocco in 2025. The Ambassador also informed H.E. Minister Bensaid of upcoming cultural-related activities the Embassy wishes to pursue in the near future as part of the Embassy's thrust in increasing awareness of Philippine culture in Morocco.

In turn, Minister Bensaid warmly welcomed exploring opportunities of cooperation related to culture and the youth, with the Philippines, including the possibility of formalizing such cooperation through an agreement, and a possible exchange of cultural-related activities in coordination with the Moroccan Embassy in the Philippines. The Minister also informed the Ambassador of activities previously organized by the Ministry, such as youth exchange programs, which may also be of interest for both countries to explore in the future.
