STUDENTS OF LYCÉE FRANÇAIS SOPHIE GERMAIN JOIN THE THIRD EPISODE OF FIESTA FILIPINAS SEASON 2: KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL

24 September 2022 - As part of the Department’s initiative to bring Filipino fiestas abroad, the Philippine Embassy in Rabat invited high school students from Lycée Français Sophie Germain in Rabat to the third episode of Fiesta Filipinas Season 2: Kadayawan Festival.

High school students Lina Douhaoui and Lina El Khateb from Lycée Français Sophie Germain were interviewed during the live event.

The participants took a virtual tour of Davao, including the breathtaking views from Mt. Apo, learned about the history of Kadayawan Festival and traditions of the 11 ethnolinguistic tribes of Davao, enjoyed treats from the Philippines including banana chips, mangosteen and durian candies, and experienced preparing puto maya and Malagos chocolate drink. During the interview portion of the episode, students of Lycée Français Sophie Germain expressed their excitement and appreciation to have been given the opportunity to experience Philippine culture, tradition, cuisine, and landscapes through the online fiesta.

The Embassy invited Moroccan students to the virtual Kadayawan Festival as part of its initiative to introduce the unique qualities of Philippine culture as distinct from other Asian cultures that Moroccans are already familiar with such as China, Japan, and Korea. END
