PHILIPPINE PRODUCTS FEATURED AT RABAT’S BAZAR INTERNATIONAL 2022
The Philippine tables featured the best of Philippine products that included its dried mangoes, banana chips, nuts, Malagos chocolates, tablea cacao, assorted candies of tamarind, coconuts. Proudly displayed were pieces of woven cloths by the Yakans and Maguindanaons and artisan crafts of the Manobos as well as pieces of bracelets of cultured freshwater pearls and top Philippine tourist brochures and destinations, Boracay and Palawan.
Rabat, 14 December 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Rabat (Rabat PE) successfully participated last Sunday, 11 December in this year’s Bazar International 2022, an annual event organized by Rabat’s Diplomatic Circle (Diplomatique Cercle, composed of spouses and friends of the various embassies accredited in Rabat, including international organizations).
The event held at Rabat’s National Library was graced by HRH Princess Lalla Meryem. After opening the event, HRH Princess Lalla made her rounds of each participating embassy/international organization and at her brief stop at the Philippine table, Princess Lalla admitted that she “knows very well about the dried Philippine mangoes”.
The country’s dried mangoes (ripe and green), banana chips, flavored (Nagaraya) nuts were “best sellers” and were very popular among members of the foreign crowd, as well as the curious “on-lookers” who came for its free taste; others found “very tasty” PH tableas served hot, while a few (obviously non-Muslims) looked for delicacies, such as “pork chicharron”
This year’s bazaar showcased local products from participating African, Middle Eastern, Asian, Latin American and European embassies, including international organizations and local artisan vendors.
The Philippine booth featured traditional Filipiniana attire, yakan and inaul textiles, accessories crafted by the Agusan-Manobo indigenous group, pearl and capiz accessories, coffee table books on Philippine cuisine, arts and culture, and tourism promotion materials from the Department of Tourism (DOT). In its continuing economic diplomacy agenda to promote the finest of Philippine products, the Embassy also showcased banana chips, dried mangoes, fried squid, nuts, polvoron, tarts, chocnut, Malagos chocolates, and cooked Filipino delicacies such pancit luglug, chicken empanada, puto, and turon – all of which were well received and patronized by bazaar guests.
Pancit luglog, puto, chicken empanada and turon joined other delicacies of participating countries at the Bazaar’s International Buffet zone.
The international bazaar is an annual event organized by the Cercle Diplomatique, proceeds from the bazaar will be used to support Moroccan NGOs working in the promotion of the welfare of women and children and other vulnerable groups in the Kingdom. END
