PH PARTNERSHIP WITH MOROCCAN AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION EXPLORED

Exchange of gifts between Ambassador Baja and Ambassador Methqal.

27 March 2023 – Philippine Ambassador Leslie J. Baja met with Ambassador Mohammed Methqal, Director-General of the Agence Marocaine de Coopération Internationale (AMCI, Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation) to discuss possible partnership between the Philippines and Morocco through AMCI.

Among the areas of partnership that may be pursued by PH in partnership with AMCI include academic cooperation in the fields of science, engineering, and Islamic studies, and trilateral partnership involving the Philippines, Morocco, and third countries either in the Sub-Saharan Africa or in the South Pacific particularly on issues related to migration and climate change.

During the meeting, Ambassador Baja also briefed AMCI about the current state of Philippines-Morocco bilateral relations, highlighting the accomplishments of both countries since the Philippine Embassy in Rabat reopened in 2020. He also conveyed the Embassy’s hope to improve the relations in various fields of cooperation, particularly in trade and investment and people-to-people exchange, as the Philippines and Morocco celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025.
