PHILIPPINES AND MOROCCO DISCUSS WAYS TO IMPROVE BILATERAL TRADE AND INVESTMENT COOPERATION

28 March 2023 – Philippine Ambassador Leslie J. Baja met with H.E. Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies to discuss ways to improve PH-Morocco cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.

During the meeting, Ambassador Baja and Minister Jazouli agreed that there is a need to increase bilateral trade and open opportunities for investment between the Philippines and Morocco especially as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Ambassador Baja informed the Minister of the Embassy’s recent initiatives to improve economic relations by engaging with the private sector which include facilitating the visit to Morocco of a representative from a Philippine food and beverage company, and helping forge a partnership between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM), among others.

For his part, Minister Jazouli noted particular interest in partnering with the Philippines in the areas of healthcare and business process outsourcing, acknowledging the country’s expertise and competence in both fields. The Ministère de l'Investissement, de la Convergence et de l’Évaluation des Politiques Publiques (MICEPP) also offered to conduct webinars for relevant Philippine government agencies and the private sector to encourage Philippine investment to Morocco.

The Ambassador and Minister expressed a shared hope to invigorating economic relations through sustained efforts on both sides. END
