PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN RABAT PROMOTES CHILDREN’S RIGHTS TO FILIPINO CHILDREN IN MOROCCO

11 November 2023 – In a joint celebration of the National Children’s Month and the Museumand Galleries Month, the Philippine Embassy in Rabat organized a reading session and arts and crafts activities for second-generation Filipino children at the Chancery.

The reading session featured a children’s book entitled Karapat Dapat - Bata Alamin ang Iyong Karapatan which explains the inherent rights of children as stipulated in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child in child-friendly language with colorful illustrations and activity sheets.

Through the presentation of the Karapat Dapat book, the Embassy was able to enhance the children’s understanding and appreciation of their rights, and to encourage the parents to provide a happy and safe environment where their children are free to live, grow, and fulfill their dreams.

The reading session was followed by an arts and crafts session incorporating the clay-making activity featured in the virtual event Laro, Sining, at Imahinasyon: An Interactive Learn and Play Experience organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs - Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy on 19 October 2023. The participants also enjoyed accomplishing some of the activity sheets in the Karapat Dapat book.

The event was facilitated by the Embassy through the assistance of Ms. Mary Grace G. Marin, Filipino community member and grade-school teacher in Rabat. END
