PRESIDENT OF MOROCCAN HOUSE OF COUNCILLORS TO INVITE PH SENATORS TO MOROCCO

Philippine Ambassador Mr. Leslie J. Baja meets with the President of the Moroccan House of Councillors H.E. Mr. Enaam Mayara

Philippine Ambassador to Morocco Mr. Leslie J. Baja met with the President of the House of Councillors of Morocco, H.E. Mr. Enaam Mayara, on 06 March 2024 in Rabat, Morocco.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries forged by the close ties between the families of the late King Hassan II and President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Mr. Mayara proposed inviting Philippine Senators to visit Morocco within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation and as part of the commemorative activities for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Both sides agreed that inter-parliamentary exchanges could further strengthen links between the two countries which share issues of common concern such as the middle income trap, migration, climate change and counter-terrorism.  

Just like the Philippine Congress, the Moroccan Parliament is composed of two chambers: the Upper House or the House of Councillors, and the Lower House or the House of Representatives. END
