PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR PUSHES FOR STRONGER ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH MOROCCO

16 November 2021 – As part of the Embassy’s thrust to bolster bilateral relations between the Philippines and Morocco, PH Ambassador to Morocco Leslie J. Baja visited the Confédération Générale des Enterprises du Maroc in Casablanca, Morocco. He was received by Mr. Chakib Alj, CGEM President and Ms. Samia Terhzaz, CGEM Deputy Director General.

During the meeting, Ambassador Baja and Mr. Alj discussed the roadmap to enhance the role of the private sector in improving Philippines-Morocco economic ties. The Ambassador conveyed the country’s interest to improve business activities with Morocco, increase the awareness of Moroccan consumers of PH products and services, attract Moroccan investors to open their businesses in the Philippines, and promote Morocco as a viable entry point to the African market for Philippine products. Mr. Alj informed the Ambassador that the establishment of a business council can help promotea more vibrant trade relations between the Philippines and Morocco, noting that the business councils created for Thailand, India, and China have significantly improved Morocco’s trade relations with these countries. He is certain that the same will be the case for the Philippines. END
